Cynergy Personal Training News for Summer 2012!  Feel like an Olympian with Cynergy Personal Trainers…

Classes

Aqua Aerobics:
We will be holding a water aerobics class starting in the middle of July!  What better way to spend your summer than in a pool?! Fortunately, we have an indoor pool, so we can all at least pretend we are having a summer. For those of you sensitive to Chlorine, no worries, the water is a Saline solution.  Lauren will be running the class and if we have enough interest we may hold more than one class, so please contact us to reserve your place as space is limited! We will be determining times and dates over the next few weeks so check our website for details!

Yoga Class:
Yoga is still ongoing!  And more importantly, there is space for a few more to join in. The Yoga class takes place on Thursday morning from 11:00 to 12:30.  All abilities welcome. Call or book on-line to reserve your place.

Running Group:  Meets Saturday mornings at 08:30 in front of the gym/centre. All abilities welcome! See our website for more information.  [email protected]

Sports Relief Results! (Finally)

The Cynergy Mile for Sport Relief, to date, has raised over £1,842!

Cynergy PT hosted its FIRST EVER Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile on Sunday 25th March, and it was an absolute success! We kept it small as it was our first event and wanted to be able to handle any unforeseen problems with ease. We hope to make the next one a little bit bigger and raise a little bit more money for Sport Relief.
Thank you to all of you that took part on the day, whether you ran it yourself, or came along to cheer others on.  It was a brilliant day and so good to see adults, children and even dogs taking part!

Functional Fitness-Open Sessions!

Beginning in 27 July we will be opening our gym up for two hours on a Friday night from 5:00pm to 7:00pm. We will have an open training session for people of all abilities to come and workout for a few minutes or for the full two hours. It is a structured circuit devised around old school functional exercises.

The first session is a free taster!  For those of you that want a hard workout, but someone there to check your form and technique, or perhaps show you how to perform the exercise, then come along and get stuck in!

Functional Fitness sessions paid in advance are £50 for a block of 5. Call for more information or check out our website: www.cynergypt.co.uk

The Trainers

Cat has been increasing her cycling efforts to achieve a strong time trial result.  The start of the season has been a bit slow, but with a little extra work the speed is improving.

Gareth took some time off from racing as he had a virus that affected his heart rate.  So after taking it easy (for him) and getting an “all clear” from the specialist, he is now back to training for future Time Trial events.

The weather has not been ideal this year, so both Cat and Gareth went to the Alps for a few days to squeeze in a little extra training.  The things we do for sport!  The weather was perfect for a holiday, but dare we say, a bit too hot for cycling.  All did very well on the trip, but with temperatures in the 45 degree mark on day one, and in the mid 30s on the other days, climbing the Alps took a bit of work.

Client Results

Well, some of Cynergy PT’s clients have had some amazing results to report.  Cat’s client, Sara, who has been training very hard for the past year, ran a comfortable 3 hours:42 minutes:45 seconds in the London Marathon! Her first ever marathon, and an impressive one at that.  And even better, just last month she qualified as an age grouper for Team GB in the 2013 Alanya ETU Triathlon European Championships!  These are brilliant achievements and we could not be happier for her.  She keeps going from strength to strength, and I look forward to helping her reach that next goal!

Cat also has a group of clients that decided to train to tackle the climb up Mt. Snowdon.  They all performed amazingly well!  Marsha was best girl, reaching the top of the climb in approximately two hours! Nick followed right on her heals and Francesca finished in approximately 2 hours, 45 minutes…not bad for someone recovering from a debilitating cough that had her bed ridden the previous week!  Congratulations to you all! The average time it takes for most people up Mt. Snowdon is 4 hours, so really pleased with their results.

Gareth has two clients with big events coming up; Matt is off to British Columbia for a week long mountain bike stage race & Richard is off to France next month for the raid alpine, a week long cycle challenge in, as the name suggests, the Alps. We wish them both luck for those. Also Christie posted a PB for her wargrave 10k run & Cecilia is going from strength to strength in her running, posting some very good times in the Nice & Lincoln 10k races.

Therapist News

Sadly, our Massage therapist, Jackie, has broken her wrist.  She will be out of circulation for a few weeks while she recuperates.  We wish her a speedy recovery.  In the meantime, we will try and find someone to take over in the interim.  Please be patient with us.

Nutrition

Excluding all your favourite foods from your diet can be demoralising and counterproductive. Moderation is the key so consider using the 80/20 rule; make 80% of your daily intake super healthy and setting aside 20% for whatever you fancy. This way you can easily fit in a slice of cheesecake or a serving of chips without getting off track completely.
